B₂ depicts Christ carrying the cross.; Content: Scenes from the life of Christ contrasted with illustrations purporting to show papal life and government. The text at foot of each cut consists of quotations from the Gospels, canon law, etc. the selection of which was presumably begun by Luther and continued by Melanchthon assisted by J.
