Interview with Ivan Nagy conducted by John Gruen, as host, for broadcast on June 28, 1976 by radio station WNCN, New York on its series The sound of dance. Streaming audio file (approximately 53 minutes). [Begins abruptly after a short period of ambient noise]. John Gruen, host speaks about some of Ivan Nagy's upcoming performances; Ivan Nagy and Gruen speak about partnering; Nagy's wife, Marilyn Burr and their children; dancing with Margot Fonteyn and with Natalia Makarova [interrupted attempt to play a recording of an excerpt of music from Swan lake]; Gruen describes Nagy's physical appearance; Gruen and Nagy speak about Nagy's position with American Ballet Theatre; his thoughts on guest artists at the company including Mikhail Baryshnikov and Alicia Alonso [a recording of the second movement of Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano concerto no. 2, used in Kenneth MacMillan's ballet Concerto, is played]; his leaving Hungary to dance in the United States at the invitation of Frederic Franklin; Gelsey Kirkland; his reluctance to request specific roles; closing remarks and announcements.
