Content: Artaxerxes II was an Achaemenid king of Persia who reigned from 404 to 359/358 B.C. He was called Mnemon. The battle of Cunaxa in 401 was fought between Artaxerxes II and his brother, Cyrus the Younger, satrap of Anatolia, over the Achaemenian throne. Cyrus attempted to overthrow Artaxerxes II but was killed by his brother.
