Unidentified host interviews Merce Cunningham over the telephone; topics include: Elliot Caplan's film Cage/Cunningham (1990), John Cage's influence and how they met, Cunningham's first shared performance with Cage in New York, his being a dancer in the Martha Graham Dance Company, his interest in movement exploration and chance operations, he briefly speaks about the changes in funding and resources over the years for his Merce Cunningham Dance Company, some of the differences between Europe and the United States in audience responses to his work, collaborating with Robert Rauschenberg and how they met, briefly his work on a new piece, his interest in the theater as a child.
