Notes
Content: Title translates German picture caption
Content: Fort Eben Emael overlooked a canal the Germans had to cross to invade Belgium. Supposedly impregnable, it was captured in one day by German commandos who landed atop it in gliders to attack its gun positions from behind. Hitler regarded this as the master stroke of the Western Front campaign, and insisted on meeting the soldiers who had taken part.
