Description
Lewis Archibald, a journalist who wrote for the magazine "Downtown," interviews David Lean, an English film director, producer, screenwriter and editor, best known for his big-screen epics. Lean talks about his European and American career, and various productions that he directed such as "Doctor Zhivago" (1965) and the 1970 drama film "Ryan's daughter," that was recently released. (The film is a very loose adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's novel "Madame Bovary"). He also analyzes why the film "Ryan's daughter" was harshly received by critics, but was a box office success.
