Documentary on Richard Alston, resident choreographer of Ballet Rambert, who discusses his background and approach to choreography. His comments are illustrated with footage of his works Night music, The rite of spring, Soda lake, Rainbow ripples, and Bellezza flash (the last commissioned by the South Bank Show). He is also seen rehearsing Bellezza flash with Tom Jobe, Siobhan Davies, and Michael Clark.
