Interview with Kirsten Simone conducted by Walter Terry on December 1, 1979 in Copenhagen, Denmark (approximately 51 minutes); interview with Jeanne Brabants conducted by Terry in December 1979 in Antwerp, Belgium (approximately 24 minutes); and review notes, primarily regarding the Paris Opéra Ballet, recorded by Terry in Paris, France (approximately 17 minutes). Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 47 minutes). Kirsten Simone speaks to Walter Terry about mime classes with Gerda Karstens including the roles she learned; the extent to which improvisation is permitted on stage; how she feels about performing character roles; roles she would like to dance; preparing for a mime role; teaching; her approaches to the roles of Odette and of Odile [in Swan lake], of Lucile Grahn and Marie Taglioni in Pas de quatre, and of Carmen in Roland Petit's Carmen; Vera Volkova, in particular, her coaching; the role of Roxanne in [Roland Petit's?] ballet Cyrano de Bergerac; continuing to dance on pointe; her dramatic approach to certain Balanchine roles; changes in her approach depending on her partner and the other dancers on stage; other roles; retiring from the classic ballerina roles; her regret concerning the repertoire during Fleming Flindt's tenure as director of the Royal Danish Ballet [Kongelige Danske ballet]; acting as essential to roles in [August] Bournonville's ballets [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2].
