Description
The program hosted by J. Parrott covers major domestic and world-wide political and economic events presented and discussed by commentators David Anable, Rob Nelson, Janet Domowitz, Gloria Goodale, David Francis, Brad Knickerbocker, Sara Terry and a few others whose names are not verified. Additional reportage is conducted by Professor Paul M. Hirsch and by Wally (?) Jones on the impact and process of corporate take-overs and junk bonds. The program also features a special guest, Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel, who talks about himself, his approach to music, choice of repertoire, interpretation of music, and his thoughts on composers. Other subjects include: President Reagan's economic and international policy and his budget plan; Soviet-American relationship on missile disarmament; the upcoming Geneva Summit; American involvement in Nicaragua and standpoint with Nicaraguan Sandinistas; economic and domestic political situation in Brazil in the aftermath of Tancredo Neves's death and transition to new president José Sarney; the 10th anniversary of Vietnam war and analysis of the Soviet, Chinese and American relationship as well as intervention tactics in general (discussed by foreign correspondent Joseph C. Harsch and David Anable); South Boston memorial to the victims of the Vietnamese war and the fate of Vietnam veterans; President Reagan's approaching visit to Germany; and analysis of the European economic import-export market. The program concludes with Mara Flash reading the short story "Sit up, take note" written by Carolyn F. Ruffin.
