Notes
Citation/reference: Union Catalog of Clemens Letters has no corresponding entry. Letter is a postscript and lacks first part, but no letter to Hall at this date. UCCL 04440 to his wife, 28 Aug. 1893, is from Leipzig in Germany and UCCL 13047 to unknown correspondent, 6 Sep 1893, is "At sea."
Date: Letter refers to revising Tom Sawyer Abroad and to quarantine in New York. Tom Sawyer Abroad ran as serial in St Nicholas Magazine, November 1893 - April 1894, and was copyrighted Jan. 25, 1894. Clemens apparently stopped almost all contact with Hall after Hall's bankruptcy in April 1894.
