DescriptionThe program includes Bill Moran's review of "Nixon," the 1995 American epic biographical film directed by Oliver Stone and the revival of the musical "Show boat"; radio commercials; and interview with theater critic Leida Snow. Snow talks about financial cuts to education in New York City; and observes various cultural events taking place in the United States at the end of 1995 such as the 1995 production of the musical "Victor/Victoria" that opened on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre, New York, October 25, 1995, with a book by Blake Edwards, music by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and additional musical material (music and lyrics) by Frank Wildhorn, starring Julie Andrews; "Randy Newman's Faust," the 1995 musical by American musician and songwriter Randy Newman, that was performed at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California, September 1995; "Master class," the play by Terrence McNally, with incidental music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Vincenzo Bellini; the production of the "Racing demon," the play by David Hare; and others. The program also contains observations of cultural life in New York City, Nashville, and Las Vegas by Laura Deni, who speaks about the death of Dean Martin (December 25, 1995), American singer, actor, comedian, and film producer; and releases of new albums and films.
